Schumacher’s Meat Market served the people of Scranton for almost 100 years, starting in the late 1800’s and closing its doors on December 31, 1989.
From my great grandfather George Schumacher Sr. opening the first of two storefronts in 1896, to my father John Jr. running the store after my grandfather passed away in 1986, providing our customers with only the finest meats and homemade sausages was a true labor of love.
This page will be a time capsule/love letter to “The Shop” as we affectionately called it, so stop back from time to time and see what new things I’ve found out about our family business.
